Easy, Delicious Weekly Meal Plans for Busy Moms!
July Monthly Goals
Another month done. Holy moly summer is going to be finished before I know it. Even though I'm not ready for summer to end, I always love the beginning of a new month because I get to set new monthly goals. I thoroughly enjoy trying to achieve something and seeing results. Sometimes I do great (telling Ian what I love about him) and other times I flop. Either way, I love to think of things I want to improve on and see if I can genuinely make an effort to make a change.
1 Veggie Into Owen's Diet 3x's/Week
If you’ve been reading my blog or following me on Instagram, you probably already know that my son, Owen, is a very picky eater. I think part of the issue came from Ian and I being too lenient when he started eating solids and the other issue came from him just being inherently picky. As Owen got older, we noticed his eating habits greatly affecting his digestion. Since his diet was and still is lacking in healthy vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, he suffers from constipation. We finally got Owen pooping regularly (thank you Miralex) but my goal is to get him digesting naturally, which means I have to improve his diet.
So, I want to get a veggie into his diet at least 3 times per week. This may sound like a minimal amount, but I don’t want to shoot for the stars and achieve nothing. If we can start small and achieve that, then next month I’ll add even more healthy foods into his diet. Honestly, it’s all about consistency and pushing back when he refuses to eat something. We’ll see!
In Bed 9pm - Wake Up 5:20am
I recently read Rachel Hollis’s new book “Girl, Stop Apologizing” and absolutely loved it. One of her lifestyle suggestions is waking up an hour earlier than you normally would. I already wake up decently early – 5:35 ish, but I’d like to move it forward to 5:20. Since Collin wakes up around 6:10 every morning, it doesn’t leave me much personal time, so I’m going to aim for a 5:20 wakeup. That way I can focus on writing my daily goals, getting dressed, and doing some work essentials before the day officially starts.
And since I’ll be waking early, I want to be in bed by 9pm. Lights can stay on and I can read (no technology) but I need to be in bed by that time. This goal is for Sunday night – Friday morning. I will be a bit more lenient come Friday evening and Saturday.
Workout With Ian 1x/Week
Ian and I love to workout together. In the past I had a very tight schedule, making it hard for us to find time to workout together. Also, having kids basically put the kibosh on that concept. Now that I work from home, I set my schedule so, we can actually exercise together. We are going to schedule one timer per week and the activity could include walking, playing tennis, hiking, biking, or going to the gym.
Not a picture of us working out, but I still love the picture, so who cares!
Say highlight every day
The glass is half full has always been a mantra of mine and if something isn’t working, well darn-it, I brainstorm solutions and take action to fix what’s frustrating me. I also try and instill this positive thinking with my family, which means we will be saying our highlight of the day, every single day. It could be as simple as eating a delicious chocolate chip cookie, but we have to find and say one good thing that happened that day.
Drink smoothie mon-fri
Pretty darn simple and not much explanation needed, I want to consume more veggies. My veggie in-take has dropped the past few months, so I’m getting back into drinking a healthy smoothie Monday-Friday.
