End of April Goals UPDATE

It’s the end of the month and another set of goals are behind me. One of the reasons I love goal setting is to see which ones I’m actually able accomplished. At the beginning of the month, I always start gung-ho thinking I’ll easily be able to all 5 goals. No doubt. And then as the days go by and life gets real, I realize that some goals (meditating EVERY NIGHT) might not be that realistic.  But as I’ve come to accept, that’s okay. It’s okay if one, two, or even all of my goals become unrealistic. This process is all about taking the time to self-evaluate and determine what truly works for me and what can make my life better NOW. If I’m miserable doing one of the goals or my time would be better spent doing something else, that’s okay. It’s just essential to take those thoughts and use them to guide my decision making process when making the next set of goals.

So, why you came this post in the first place: Did I meet my goals?

Workout 3x’s a Week

Nope. The last week and a half I started to feel as though my cold was dissipating, so I took a few walks and did one set of crunchies, “push ups,” and lunges. So, I’d say I worked out twice in one month. Yikes. But that’s okay. I’ve determined sleeping a bit longer or coming home early and resting is much better for my health than pushing through, working out and potentially getting more sick.

Mindfulness Everyday

This is the goal I struggled with the most. I sincerely wanted to be diligent because I’ve heard and read a lot about the benefits of mindfulness. And I’ll say the nights I did practice mindfulness, were relaxing and enjoyable. But the persistence of doing it EVERY SINGLE DAY is something I failed at. I’ll admit I probably did it 20 out of the 30 days in the month. The first 2.5 weeks I was very consistent but then I started to get lazy. As I said in my mid-month update, maybe doing it earlier in the day will help with consistency.

1 Veggie and 1 Fruit for Lunch and Dinner

I did it! Not 100% but I’d say 95% of the time. I would consider this a win. I even tried to implement more veggies into Owen’s diet because of constipation. But this is a whole nother story for another time.

Listen to 5 Mommy Podcasts

I squeezed in 4 out of the 5 mommy podcasts. They were helpful regarding Owen’s tantrums and a bit about potty training. I love learning all things parent related, so if you have any mommy focused podcasts, comment below! I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Apply to School

This didn’t happen. I kept having the excuse, “I just don’t have time to apply.” But honestly, if I truly wanted to do it, I would have done it. Something is holding me back from applying. Part of me is scared to go back to school when I have to work and take care of kids. Part of me is scared to start something and potentially not succeed. Did I ever tell you I’ve already taken Intro to Biology 2 times! And both times I got a C. When it comes down to it, I’m just not ready to apply and I’ve come to accept that fact.
